Appleby Manor operates a policy of applying the same fixed mark-up to each bottle of wine. This means we can happily recommend the wine we think you will enjoy the most. We have no ulterior 'profit-motive'. So if you are not sure just which wine to choose, please ask for our advice. We promise it will be impartial!

Brilliant sweet/acid harmonious balance, flowery, with developing oily scents and flavours.
Riesling is Germany's great grape, at present the world's most underrated. It does not need
a high alcohol content for character, making this wine ideal for those who like a lot! 8%vol

55 Pfaffenhiem Black Tie Pinot Gris Alsace France 2009 £21.50
Wonderful blend of these two grape varieties making a very refreshing, quite aromatic medium bodied wine. Stunning on its own but really goes well with all white fish and shellfish dishes. 12.5% vol.

A proper Valpolicella from the best sites and made to reasonable yields with a red-fruit & cherry nose and palate, fresh, stony fruit flavour and a bitter almond twist to the finish. 12.5%vol.
63 Lake Chalice Pinot Noir Malborough, New Zealand 2009 £24.95
A classic Malborough amalgam of strawberry, raspberry, and black cherry all bound up in spicy French oak. It has firm but soft tannins and a finish of sweet black fruits. 13.5%vol.

Aged in oak for twelve months, this dark cherry red wine with tinges of terracotta has aromas of spices and mature black fruits. Good acidity is well balanced with luscious fruit, spices and oak to give a delicious well-integrated wine. Full bodied and silky on the palate. 13% vol.

A clear ruby colour with spicy liquorice and blackcurrant flavours typical of the variety, and boasting a lazy, elegant aftertaste. A product of the Miguel Torres family. 13.5%vol.

A beautiful ruby colour with a typical Medoc style of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. This wine displays elegant tannins with a hint of oak-ageing. 12.5%vol.

Tempranillo, Mazuela and Garnacha grapes, aged for one year in American oak. Ripe, plummy vanilla. Crianza means “nursing” - at least 2 years old (1 year in oak), not released before the 3rd year. 12.5%vol.

One of the lighter wines of Beaujolais Cru boasting a full raspberry fruit flavour. Lively and clean yet still the most popular Beaujolais Cru. 13%vol.

This truely South African wine features rich berries and plum flavours, finely balanced with well-integrated oak overtones. 14%vol.

Soft, aromatic, easy-drinking style, with good depth of colour and generous fruit character. A versatile wine, remarkable for its compatibility with a wide diversity of cuisine. Stylish and spicy. 13.5%vol.

Made from the finest Canadian raspberries and brandy, this wine is delicious with dessert, especially chocolate, or poured over ice-cream! Intense, rich, sweet, jammy fruits which invade the nostrils and last in the mouth for a very long time. Gold Medal winner. 14.5%vol.
